Craftsman Style/Flat Panel Doors Craftsman Style or "Mission Style" architecture was developed around the turn of the 20th century. Its characteristic flat panels and clean lines represented a movement toward the simple and unadorned following the excesses of Victorian design. Today the Craftsman style and philosophy are experiencing a resurgence in popularity. The flat panel or craftsman style door is typically machined with a square edge profile on the stiles and rails. The panels can be built with edge laminated material to create smooth flat panels or can be made of a veneered plywood material when available. Click to see the cross section drawing.
