Plank Panel Doors: Simple, Smart and Timeless The Plank Panel design is simple and versatile. It is often chosen to complement a rustic or log décor. It can be varied by increasing the number of panels, adding a top rail arch, or utilizing one of the many options for glass. At Pine Door Company our standard tongue and groove planks are machined with a slight radius groove as illustrated in the handy linked cross-section drawing. They can be custom ordered with a V-groove or a kerf cut. The door is designed with an air space around the panel area to allow for expansion and contraction due to varying weather conditions. Our interior Plank Panel doors are 1 3/8” to 1 ¾” thick with the planks at ¾” thick. Exterior doors are typically 1 ¾” but can be ordered up to 2 ¼” with planks at 1 ¼” thick. Our standard stile and rail width is 4 ½” but custom options are available to accommodate specialty hardware.      |
